What is it?
As if it is not enough that a person has to go through acne, they will more likely be left with acne scars as a reminder afterward. Acne scars are those marks that occur after an acne lesion of a pimple has healed, a mark is left behind because tissue damage has taken place at the site.
Scars are formed if the skin has undergone injury and inflammation that has been present in the area, and acne is an inflammation-driven skin disorder. When follicles in the skin become clogged with sebum and dead skin cells it can lead to infection and inflammation, this inflammation damages the follicle walls and when the skin tries to heal itself the result is the skin that does not appear as smooth as the surrounding skin.
There are different types of acne scarring and different scars respond differently to treatments. By at least knowing which type you have the better you will be able to treat it. Also, remember that acne needs to be cleared up in order to proceed with further treatment to prevent spreading of infection or causing further inflammation.
Dark or reddish marks left behind by acne lesions respond very well to treatment and can sometimes even improve on their own, although they are not true scars, they are still embarrassing to the individual and there are products and treatments on the market to help treat them. Ice pick scars are deep dips in the skin but aren’t very wide. They give the skin an appearance of having been penetrated by an ice pick.
Ice pick scars normally require more intense treatments. Boxcar scars resemble the scars left by chicken pox. They can be shallow or deep and are commonly found on the cheeks or temples where the skin is fleshier. Rolling scars give the skin a wave-like appearance, they tend to be wide and shallow and require more intense treatments.
At Glo Laser and Beauty we believe it is best to treat active acne effectively and thus preventing acne scar formation.
The Cleopatra Glo – this is a complete facial rejuvenation micro needling treatment done by The Alma Beauty Reboost. Lamelle Dermaroller – This is a micro needling treatment stimulates the skin’s collagen and elastin production by applying the small needles attached to the dermaroller to the skin. This treatment works great when Lamelle’s Skin Rejuvenating Serum and Growth factor mask is added as it will assist in reducing the appearance of deeper scars, improving the skin’s texture and assist in collagen production.
