Your skincare routine really does matter

We are creatures of habit, there’s no getting away from it, some good and some not so good, but one of the best habits you can have is to be committed to a healthy skincare routine.
It’s easy to give cleansing your skin a miss when you’re tired at night, or late getting out the door in the morning, but there are a few really good reasons for sticking to a good skincare routine.
Up your confidence levels
Stepping out into your day with skin that’s fresh and clear of blemishes is definitely a confidence booster.  The routine doesn’t even have to be complicated, keep it simple and you’ll reap the rewards in no time.
Be consistent
We’re often tempted to rush out and buy the latest miracle skincare product, and, when we don’t experience the advertised ‘dramatic’ results quickly, it gets packed away into the bathroom cabinet – along with many others little-used.
The only way to get real results is to be consistent with your routine. Stick with your routine and you’ll experience the glow of really healthy skin.  It’s just a small sacrifice of your time for maximum benefit.
Maintaining the results
The first ten kilo’s you lose on a healthy diet is the greatest inspiration to keep going, isn’t it? Well the same applies to the results you’ll be seeing after maintaining your skincare regime.
You’ll want to keep at it, with a passion, to retain the healthy glow and smooth skin tone you’ve already achieved.
Keep it simple
Look at what’s most important in terms of cultivating and keeping healthy skin, and take it from there.
If necessary, book a free skincare consultation with the beauty consultants at Glo Laser & Beauty Clinic in Pretoria, to make sure you’ll be using the right products for your age and skin type.
This is a very important first step.  Using the wrong cleanser or moisturiser for instance, is going to do you no good, no matter how determined you are to keep to your routine.
Keeping it really simple means focussing on a cleanser, moisturiser, toner, exfoliator, and the all-important sunscreen no one should be without.
Feed your skin at night
Once you’ve got your basic routine down pat, start looking at how you can feed your skin at night as part of your skincare routine.
A lighter moisturiser is the general rule of thumb during the day, but when night time comes, you need to change it up a bit.
Our skin cells go into overdrive when we go to sleep, working hard to repair the damage that is done to the skin through UV radiation and free radicals hanging about in the environment.
Because cells regenerate so much faster as we catch up on our beauty sleep, which it really is, it’s the perfect time to work on waking up with glowing skin.
At this point it must be said that no matter what the condition of your skin is, cleansing and using eye cream is a must. You won’t regret it further down the road.
A rich moisturiser that improves hydration, and anti-oxidants that sooth the damage caused by the environment should become an extension of the perfect skincare routine.
