How to battle skin pigmentation

How to battle skin pigmentation

Pigmentation or hyperpigmentation of the skin would be at the top of the skin concerns list; if there ever were one.
The darkening of the skin in various areas is caused by an overproduction of melanin in these areas. Over-exposure to sun, genetics, pregnancy and certain photosensitive medication are all considered contributing factors to hyperpigmentation.
Pigmentation or hyperpigmentation occurs most often in women with darker skin types. This is because they have larger melanocytes. Melanocytes are the cells that produce melanin, a dark pigment that colours hair and skin.
Medication taken for hypertension, diabetes and heart disease can also frequently lead to hyperpigmentation. Some antibiotics and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs can also cause various types of allergic reactions that can lead to hyperpigmentation.
If you neglect to apply sunscreen when you are young, you will find that as you get older the damage caused by the sun, will move to the surface of your skin.
NEVER leave home without sun protection for your face and body; the difference between the effects of the sun’s radiation 25 years ago and today is clearly evident.  We see an increase in cases of skin cancer and other sun-related problems more than ever before!
At Glo Laser & Beauty Clinic, therapists are highly experienced at helping clients to effectively combat the different forms of skin pigmentation with the right treatment, such as beauty spots, freckles, pigmentation caused by pregnancy and hormones.
We offer Lamelle chemicals peels. We recommend you start with the Beta 15% peel and then to the Beta 20% peels. The therapist will use her discretion and decide if you need the slightly stronger chemical peel.
